Walking Closer with Christ
Scripture of the Week
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
— Lamentations 3:22-23
Hello, sweet friends.
Welcome to the very first post in our new weekly series, Walking Closer with Christ.
As I sit here on the first day of June, my heart is filled with gratitude. Not because life is always easy. Not because every prayer has been answered exactly the way I hoped. Not because there haven't been struggles, disappointments, and difficult days along the way.
My heart is grateful because God has been faithful.
He has carried us through another month.
Another season.
Another chapter of life.
And today, by His grace and mercy, He has given us the gift of a brand-new month and a brand-new week.
Can you believe we are already halfway through 2026? Time flies, doesn't it?
It feels like only yesterday we were welcoming a new year and making plans for all that we hoped to accomplish. Yet here we are in June, standing at the halfway point.
As I thought about that this morning, one question came to my heart.
Are we where we hoped to be in our walk with Christ?
Not where we hoped to be financially.
Not where we hoped to be professionally.
Not where we hoped to be with our personal goals.
But where we hoped to be spiritually....our walk with Christ.
Have we grown closer to Jesus? Maybe you have, but perhaps not as much as you hoped?
Do we trust Him more than we did six months ago?
Are we spending time with Him daily?
Are we seeking Him first?
Friend, I ask these questions because I ask them of myself too.
Life gets busy, doesn't it?
That morning phone alarm starts buzzing.
The kids need to be dressed and ready for school.
The emails begin arriving...
The appointments fill our calendars.
The responsibilities pile up!
The worries try to steal our peace.
Before we know it, the day is gone.
And if we're not careful, we can find ourselves giving God whatever time is left over right?
But lets be honest, God deserves so much more than our leftovers.
He deserves our first moments, our first thoughts, and our first attention.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Notice that He didn't say seek Him last.
He didn't say seek Him when you have extra time.
He said seek Him FIRST.
That simple truth has challenged my heart this week.
How different would our days look if we started every morning by spending time with the Lord before we did anything else?
Before the lunches are packed and ready for school, before the email is checked, before social media, before the meetings, before the worries... before the stress!
What if we simply paused and spent a few moments talking with our Savior?
Prayer is one of the greatest gifts God has given us.
The Creator of Heaven and earth invites us to come boldly before Him.
We don't need perfect words.
We don't need a special place, although a quiet place away from distractions can certainly help.
But we really just need a willing heart.
Prayer is where fear meets faith.
Prayer is where burdens become lighter.
Prayer is where we find peace when the world around us feels uncertain.
Prayer is where our relationship with Jesus grows stronger.
The more time we spend with Him, the more we begin to recognize His voice and trust His direction.
Friend, there is nothing more important in this life than our relationship with Jesus Christ.
One day our jobs will end.
Our calendars will no longer matter.
The things we worried about so much will be forgotten.
But our relationship with Christ will last for eternity.
That is why my greatest desire for everyone reading this blog is not simply that you have a good week.
My prayer is that you know Jesus Christ personally.
That you have accepted him into your heart and trust Him as your Savior.
That you walk closely with Him every day.
That you experience His grace, mercy, peace, and love.
And if you don't know Him today, I pray that you will begin seeking Him with your whole heart. If you need prayer or would like to talk message me. I will be happy to pray for you or talk with you.
Because there is no greater decision you will ever make.
As I prepared for this new month, I wanted to create something that would help us intentionally spend more time with God.
So I've created a free June 2026 Bible Study Planner Bundle that I hope will be a blessing to you.

Inside you'll find:
🌿 June 2026 Bible Study Calendar
🌿 June Monthly Planner Page
🌿 June Blank Calendar
These pages were designed to help you schedule quiet time, plan your Bible reading, write down prayer requests, and stay focused on your walk with Christ throughout the month.
Sometimes we don't need more hours in the day.
We simply need to be intentional with the hours God has already given us.
My prayer is that these resources help you spend more time with Jesus and less time distracted by the busyness of life.

Let's make June a month of seeking God first.
A month of spending more time in prayer.
A month of reading His Word faithfully.
A month of gratitude.
A month of walking closer with Christ.
A June Heart Check
Take a few moments today and prayerfully ask yourself:
❤️ Am I spending time with God daily?
❤️ Is my prayer life growing stronger?
❤️ Am I reading and studying God's Word consistently?
❤️ What blessings has God given me this year?
❤️ What worries do I need to surrender to Him?
❤️ What can I do this month to grow closer to Christ?
Remember, this isn't about guilt.
It's about growth.
God's mercies are new every morning.
And today is a wonderful opportunity to begin again.
This Week's Bible Reading Challenge
As you begin June, I encourage you to start with Day 1 of the June Bible Study Plan and make a commitment to spend time with God each day.
You don't need hours of free time.
You don't need a perfect schedule.
You simply need a willing heart.
Read the daily Scripture, pray over what you've read, and ask God to show you something new about Himself each day.
Even a few quiet moments spent with the Lord can make a difference.
This week, focus on creating the habit of putting God first each morning before the busyness of the day begins.
Read slowly.
Pray before you read.
Ask God to teach you something new.
Then write down what He places on your heart.
Gratitude Corner
Before you leave today, pause and thank God for three blessings.
Maybe it's your family.
Maybe it's your church family.
Maybe it's your health.
Maybe it's simply the gift of another day.
James 1:17 reminds us:
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights..."
Every blessing we enjoy comes from His loving hand.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for bringing us into a new month and a new week. Thank You for Your mercy that is new every morning and Your faithfulness that never fails.
Help us seek You first this month. Give us a hunger for Your Word and a desire to spend time in prayer. Draw us closer to You and help us grow in our faith.
For those who are struggling today, bring comfort.
For those who are weary, bring strength.
For those who are discouraged, bring hope.
And for those who do not know You as Savior, please draw them to Yourself.
May June be a month of spiritual growth, gratitude, and renewed faith as we learn to trust You more completely.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Until next week, my prayer for you is simple:
Stay in the Word.
Stay in prayer.
Stay close to Jesus.
And keep Walking Closer with Christ. ❤️
Have a blessed week, and know that I am praying for you. You are loved, and more importantly, you are loved by the One who gave His life for you.
With love and Prayers,
Christy
